The Common Assessment Framework, Asset and Onset: Guidance for youth justice practitioners (B295)

The Common Assessment Framework, Asset and Onset: Guidance for youth justice practitioners

The introduction of CAF will have an impact on youth justice practice in the areas of assessment and planning interventions. This guidance is intended to help practitioners and managers to use Common Assessment Framework (CAF) effectively, while continuing to use Onset and Asset as the primary assessment methods for (respectively) young people at risk of involvement in offending or young people who have offended. This document will be updated in response to Department for Education and Skills’ (DfES’) reviews of CAF implementation, and as more information becomes available on how CAF is actually being used in practice. The information in this document only applies to England. The Welsh Assembly is developing its own version of CAF, and guidance will follow in due course.
