Youth Offending Teams
YOT Inspections
The youth offending team (YOT) inspection programme started in June 2003. All YOTs in England and Wales are being inspected over a five to six year cycle. The programme has been divided into four phases. Phase four inspections began in March 2007.
During this fourth phase, YOTs will be assessed against:

work in the courts
-
work with children and young people in the community
-
work with children and young people subject to custodial sentences
-
victims and restorative justice
-
management and leadership
The nine inspectorates that conduct the YOT inspections are: the Audit Commission, Commission for Health Improvement, Estyn (HM Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales), HM Inspectorate of Constabulary, HM Inspectorate of Prisons, HM Inspectorate of Probation, Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), Social Services Inspectorate, Social Services Inspectorate for Wales.
