Following Release from Custody
Support from the families and communities of young people who have been in custody is very important if they are to be successfully resettled into the community. Young people who leave custody are less likely to reoffend if they have strong family support.
To help reduce pressure on your relationship and make it easier for your child to live at home, you may be offered support such as mediation, family group conferencing, parenting support services, or the use of mentors.
The family home is the best place for a young person to live, but where this is not possible, it will be easier for them to live independently if they can maintain the support of significant family members.
