As the success of projects will often depend on volunteers’ skills and effectiveness, the project should offer appropriate training and development opportunities to help volunteers develop their potential.
Once mentors have been recruited and trained, they will require a great deal of support in order for the project to become a succees. This can be provided in a number of ways, including mentor training meetings, mentor supervision sessions and informal support via telephone calls and newsletters.
