The YJB has identified effective practice as a key element in developing and improving youth justice services. We are committed to identifying and promoting effective practice across the whole of the youth justice system to ensure that work with young people is as effective as possible and based on best practice and research evidence.
To this end, the YJB has developed the Key Elements of Effective Practice which describe the features of effective services and support the identification of staff learning and development needs.
Originally published in 2003, the Key Elements of Effective Practice have been updated as part of the Youth Justice: The Scaled Approach project.
