The documents and maps below identify the court catchment areas for children and young people remanded or sentenced to custody.
The YJB Placement Service takes into account a wide range of factors when making placement decisions. On occasion a young person may be most appropriately placed outside their catchment area. Therefore court catchments are not designed to be prescriptive.
Note: these documents do not cover secure children's homes or STCs.
Methodology
In order to undertake a review of courts allocated to each establishment we used historical data to produce an average number of young people remanded and sentenced from each court. Each court was allocated to an establishment taking into account closeness to home and the operational capacity for each establishment.
