Practitioners who work in the secure estate are invited to send in artwork created by the children and young people in their care.
Shortlisted pieces will be exhibited at the Annual Youth Justice Convention, a national event to be held in Bournemouth on the 13 and 14 of November 2007. Winners in each category receive a £20 gift voucher plus their work featured in YJ magazine. We aim to return all work so clear labelling is essential.
Every year we receive a mixture of collage, painting, needlework, print and craft objects (such as examples of woodwork skills). So there is a free run on materials, with the only considerations being size and vulnerability. We would prefer that two-dimensional work does not exceed A2 size and that three-dimensional work is constrained within 12”x12”.
The exhibition is judged by the delegates at the conference and will take place on the second day, with prizes awarded within the following four categories:
- under 15’s 2D
- under 15’s 3D
- 15 – 17’s 2D
- 15 – 17’s 3D.
The deadline for this competition is Friday 5 October 2007. Please ensure we receive all entries by this date.
Last year we were swamped by the huge response and so we would appreciate assistance by clearly labelling the back of each piece with the entrant’s name, age and the address of institution.

Entries should be sent to: Daniel Craig, Annual Convention Art Show, Youth Justice Board, 11 Carteret Street, London SW1H 9DL
