A Youth Justice Board video for Youth Offending Teams has been voted best training video at the biggest annual awards for business communications.
The video, Making it Count in Court, picked up three awards – two golds for best training and best drama, and a silver for its direction, at the awards of the International Visual Communication Association.
The film shows the trials and tribulations of a Youth Offending Team (Yot) court worker, as he puts together a strong case for a young offender to be given an effective community sentence.
Rachel Pitkeathley, Director of Communications, was delighted with the award hat trick:
"Yot workers play a vital role in determining the sentencing outcomes of the young people they work with. This video gives a clear insight into the demands of the job, while also outlining its many rewards. The awards bear testimony to the Youth Justice Board's commitment to communicate effectively with all those in the youth justice system."
The video and accompanying handbook were supplied free to all Yots last year. They can be used as part of induction programmes, local training, or to encourage dialogue with court user groups. There are still some copies available to Yots, but a maximum of two additional copies can be requested per Yot.

The Youth Justice Board would like to congratulate Pukka Films and everyone who worked on the video for their fantastic achievement.
