The Ministry of Justice and the Department for Children Schools and Families have announced today that there will be a review of the YJB’s governance and operating arrangements. The review will examine whether the YJB has the most appropriate powers, levers, accountabilities and capacity to meet its statutory functions and deliver government priorities on youth justice.
Dame Sue Street, former Permanent Secretary at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has been appointed as the independent co-chair of the review. She will chair the review jointly with Frances Done, Chair of the Youth Justice Board. They will be supported by a steering group comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Justice, Department for Children, Schools and Families, Home Office, Welsh Assembly Government and YJB.
To inform the work of the review the joint chairs are calling for evidence from interested parties. Ideas, comments and submissions from interested organisations and individuals that relate directly to the terms of reference of the review should be sent to the postal or email addresses below by 11 November 2009.
